Introduction

The Energy Demand Forecasting Group has been in existence for three years as informal grouping of academics and students. It was formalised as an Nelson Mandela University entity as COEF by resolution of Senate in March 2011. Director is Prof Litvine. Others include 15 staff members (academic and professional) and ten post graduate students.

Mission

  • To serve the forecasting needs of South Africa through training students and conducting applied research
  • Consolidate and develop existing forecasting expertise in the Department of Statistics
  • Generate meaningful research that is applicable in the South African and international contexts
  • Initiate innovative projects in line with the vision, mission and strategic priorities of the Nelson Mandela University
